Tasks: your battleground in every course

What is a Task?

A Task is the practical core of every course in Spartan Labs. No theory, no simulated exercises: each Task is a real target you must compromise, exploit, or breach to move forward.

A cross-course concept

Tasks aren't tied to a single course. You'll find them across every course on the platform, from fundamentals to advanced challenges, so you build your offensive mindset progressively and consistently.

Your arsenal: SpartanOps

To solve each Task you'll use your SpartanOps, the isolated operations environment we provide so you can attack safely, legally, and under control. Connect, enumerate, exploit, and reach the objective all from one place.

Capture the flag and level up

Once you successfully compromise the Task's target, you'll be rewarded with a flag, just like in any CTF. That flag is the proof that you breached the objective, and you must submit it on the platform from the Task itself to validate the challenge.

Every flag submitted correctly:

  • Marks the Task as solved.
  • Adds to your progress in the course.
  • Brings you closer to unlocking the next challenge.

The flow is simple

  1. Launch your SpartanOps.
  2. Read the Task objective.
  3. Apply the techniques learned in the course.
  4. Capture the flag once you compromise the target.
  5. Submit it on the platform and move on.

Every solved Task is more than a checkmark it's a real skill you've now mastered.
